In Loving Memory of Anthony Arnold Cardwell Sr.

Anthony Arnold Cardwell Sr., age 79, of Hardinsburg, passed away on January 9, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1944, to Carlie and Gladys (Shephard) Cardwell in Louisville, KY. Tony, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Hardinsburg High School in the class of 1962 and went on to enlist in the United States Army on February 05, 1963, proudly serving as a Vietnam Veteran.

Anthony's professional journey included roles at the Charlestown Ammunition plant, Ford Motor Company, and later as a skilled Small Engine Repair Mechanic. On September 04, 1993, he married the love of his life, Beverly (Crecelius) Cardwell, and together they made their home in Hardinsburg, IN. Tony was an active member of the Salem American Legion and Liberty View Church in Milltown, IN. Locally, he became well-known for his "Chainsaw Garden" in Hardinsburg, showcasing his unique creativity.

Tony had a passion for history, guns, and country music. He cherished moments spent with friends and family, and his storytelling abilities made him a captivating presence. Anthony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Debbie Strother, two brothers, Donald and Carlie Cardwell, and two sisters, Betty Varble, and Sue Eubank.

Anthony is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Cardwell, his children: Laura Ellen (Edward) Augustine, Anthony A (Mary) Cardwell Jr., Jennifer Cardwell, Jessica (Shannon) Green, and Lisa Strother. He is also survived by two brothers, Michael (Danette) Cardwell, Patrick (Diane) Cardwell, one sister, Barbara Barnickle, twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his cherished pets and faithful companions, "Cosmo" and "Fluffy."

Visitation to celebrate Anthony's life will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024, and again on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 10 am until the time of service at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, IN. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 12 pm at Love Funeral Home, with burial following in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Milltown, IN.
